New Zealand Chartering Pioneers

This week I received a handwritten letter from the Hon. John Banks, Associate Minister of Education in New Zealand, who is also a member of Parliament. Last month I sent him a copy of my book, Zero Chance of Passage: The Pioneering Charter School Story because the New Zealand Parliament passed chartered schools legislation in June. Applications are now being taken for new charter schools in New Zealand. Here is what the Associate Minister kindly wrote:

Dear Ms. Reichgott Junge,

Thank you very much for your support and encouragement with the implementation of our ‘charter school’ programme. Your challenges have mirrored our hurdles with the same union opposition. Anyway, we have got the legislation through the Parliament and expect to open up to 6 schools early next year. Thank you for your book.

Warmest best wishes,

John

I wish all the best to Mr. Banks and our New Zealand chartering pioneers!
